Doctor Who, Supernatural, Sherlock, Once Upon a Time Fanatic
Ten years and seven days,
Since our Towers fell,
Our world came crashing in,
Our defenses were down.
We were so young,
We were so naïve,
Our heads were stronger than our kevlars,
Our hearts lighter than our combat shirts.
Rocket City was a funny nickname,
Given to our FOB years before us,
Our home in the valley,
Near Pakistan and Allah Hill.
We were hated for our flag,
We were feared for our right shoulder patch,
The Big Red One, 1st ID,
We were proud at least of that.
We were wounded,
When the rocket burst,
We were torn from our mission,
That’s what hurt the most.
Rocket City, you stole from me,
My sense of calm and safety,
But you gifted me with vengeance,
And made me a Combat Veteran
